Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Biodiversity Expert to join our Environmental and Social (E&S) consultancy team. The successful candidate will provide expertise in assessing biodiversity impacts, developing mitigation measures, and ensuring compliance with international environmental standards for diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct biodiversity baseline studies and impact assessments.
  • Develop biodiversity management plans aligning with IFC Performance Standards and other international frameworks.
  • Coordinate and lead biodiversity field surveys and data collection activities.
  • Provide technical input and advice on biodiversity conservation strategies and mitigation measures.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to communicate biodiversity-related findings and recommendations clearly and effectively.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), and management plans.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in biodiversity assessment or conservation planning.
  • Familiarity with international environmental standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standard 6, World Bank Environmental and Social Framework).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in biodiversity data collection, GIS mapping, and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Preferred

  • Prior consultancy experience or experience working with international donor-funded projects.
  • Experience in biodiversity offsetting and habitat restoration initiatives.
