Business Development Manager – Environmental & Social Consultancy

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Environmental & Social (E&S) consultancy team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and regulatory frameworks, combined with excellent business development and relationship management skills. You will play a key role in expanding our client base, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting the growth of our E&S services across sectors.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Environmental & Social (E&S) consultancy team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and regulatory frameworks, combined with excellent business development and relationship management skills. You will play a key role in expanding our client base, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting the growth of our E&S services across sectors.
Identify and develop new business opportunities in the field of ESG, sustainability consulting, E&S assessments, biodiversity studies, regulatory compliance, and climate change advisory.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, EOIs, and capability statements tailored to client needs.
Develop a deep understanding of company services (e.g., Environmental Impact Assessments, Social Risk Assessments, ESG Due Diligence, Biodiversity Studies, etc.) and effectively communicate value propositions.
Collaborate with the technical teams to develop customized solutions and project strategies for clients.
Monitor market trends, funding opportunities (e.g., multilateral agency projects), and competitors to support strategic planning.
Attend industry events, forums, and networking opportunities to promote the organization and its services.
Manage the sales pipeline, track leads, and report on progress through CRM systems and regular updates to leadership.
Support branding, marketing campaigns, and thought leadership activities, including webinars, whitepapers, and case studies.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related fields.
5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management, preferably in ESG, sustainability, or environmental consulting sectors.
Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, regulatory compliance (EIA, ESIA), sustainability reporting (GRI, SASB, TCFD), and related consultancy offerings.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and drive execution.
Proficiency in CRM tools, MS Office Suite, and proposal development.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Willingness to travel as required.
