Position Overview

We are seeking a competent and experienced Health & Safety Expert to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of occupational health and safety (OHS) practices across diverse projects. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with national regulations and international standards, and for promoting a culture of safety across all levels of operation—from field staff to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Health & Safety Plans (HSP) and Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for project sites.
  • Conduct site risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analyses (JSA).
  • Monitor compliance with relevant safety laws, guidelines, and international frameworks (e.g., IFC Performance Standard 2, ILO standards, WB EHS Guidelines).
  • Lead training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for project teams and contractors.
  • Maintain safety records and incident logs; investigate and report accidents and near-miss events.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure HSE protocol adherence.
  • Coordinate with environmental and social teams to ensure integrated risk management.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and certification agencies as required.
  • Recommend practical improvements for safe project design, operations, and decommissioning phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in managing health and safety in infrastructure, industrial, or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of national OHS regulations and familiarity with international standards (e.g., IFC PS2, ISO 45001).
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HSE reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work in varied conditions.
